Las Peñitas: Begin your adventure with a scenic drive across the island, a journey of about an hour that offers breathtaking views and a glimpse of the island’s diverse landscapes. Upon arrival, you’ll start at the bottom of the canyon, far from the crowds, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the area. As you make your way toward the charming chapel, nestled in the canyon, you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife, including colorful birds such as falcons, hoopoes and eagles, as well as land animals like rabbits, chipmunks, lizards and wild goats. The path is lined with unique plant life. You may even have the chance to taste the the sweet juicy fruit of the prickly pear cactus, which grows abundantly in the region. Explore in small, intimate groups, ensuring a serene and personal experience. Continue to the dam, a peaceful spot perfect for a break.
Arco de Las Peñitas: The climb to the Arco de Las Peñitas is a thrilling ascent that rewards you with breathtaking views at every step. As you make your way up the rocky path, you’ll navigate through a landscape shaped by time, with each turn revealing new angles of the surrounding cliffs and valley below. Definitely! With Fuerteventura’s sunny weather, high SPF sun cream (at least SPF 30) is essential. If you forget, we provide extra sun cream.
Activity Level
- Moderate: You should be reasonably fit and able to hike for about 1.5 hours. This hike involves some altitude and canyon terrain, so it’s not ideal for those with vertigo.
